Probate and Estate Services

At Laidlaw Firm, LLC, we represent personal representatives, trust administrators and executors in probate and estate administration issues.

Probate is the process where a will is proven to be valid. The courts examine the will to ensure that the will's validity. If the validity cannot be ascertained, the courts distribute the assets of the estate according to the New York laws of intestate succession.

Estate representatives are held personally liable for tax obligations and asset distribution, so it is extremely important to consult with an experienced attorney who can ensure you are in compliance with the decedent's wishes and the law. Contact us for a free consultation regarding an estate.

The executor has a duty to act within a reasonable period of time. We will help you ensure a timely probate to protect the interests of an estate and your rights.

Probate can often be a complicated process. We have experience working with the New York State probate laws. Taking the time to explain probate to our clients, we can help ensure that clients' interests are protected and that they understand exactly what happens during probate administration and how it affects the estate in question.

Trust Administration

In addition to estate administration, we also help with the administration of trusts. We will designate a trustee at the time we set up a trust in your behalf. There are many trust companies that we recommend for our clients, however, we can also appoint an individual to act as trustee. If you are a trustee, we can act as your attorney and trust administrator. we also represent clients with matters of estate administration.
